Tally Files and task checklists

Browse shared firm and company Files, save authorized work products, and follow the checklist for compound Tally work.

Browse Shared Files

Open the Tally Files view to browse firm and company locations. Use the folder tree and breadcrumbs to move through a location, search file names and folders, open a file preview, and choose Download when you need a local copy.

Company locations use folders such as Taxes, Bookkeeping, Payroll, and Other. The active company determines which company Files Tally and the firm member can see.

Files Versus Attachments

Shared Files are durable workspace documents. Tally can list, search, read, and present an authorized file, and can save an approved work product to a firm or company location when the request allows it.

An attachment in a Tally conversation is evidence for that turn and follows the attachment workflow. A file pulled from a personal outside-app connection also remains private evidence until the user explicitly asks Tally to save it to an authorized shared location. See Tally evidence attachments.

Follow A Task Checklist

Compound Tally work can create a task checklist that records the work already completed, the next action, and anything waiting for the firm. The checklist is owned by the work turn so a follow-up can resume the same task instead of starting a second copy.

Mobile and Tally Service can show the checklist as a read-only projection. Use the full Tally conversation or the owning workflow when a step needs an action, approval, file choice, or accounting decision.

The checklist is a progress record, not a report-readiness certification. A completed checklist does not prove that the books contain every transaction that should exist.

Do not upload passwords, bank credentials, API keys, Stripe secrets, or raw tokens to Files or Tally evidence. Store credentials in the app's supported settings and connection flows.
