Billing and trials
Understand Core, LedgerHQ + Tally, trial timing, enabled companies, Anthropic allowance, billing history, and card collection.
LedgerHQ billing is handled at the firm level. A firm manages one subscription and pays for enabled company workspaces, connected-account overages, and any companies upgraded to LedgerHQ + Tally. This keeps billing tied to the accounting practice relationship instead of making each company manage a separate subscription.
During signup, LedgerHQ can require card collection through Stripe Checkout before app access while still delaying the first charge until the trial ends. Staff or manual billing exceptions can also exist for firms that should not go through normal hosted billing.
What The Firm Pays For
LedgerHQ has two company packages:
- LedgerHQ Core is $9 per enabled company per month.
- LedgerHQ + Tally is $20 per enabled company per month.
Both packages are free through September 1, 2026. During that launch period, the firm can still be asked to collect a card through Stripe Checkout, but the first charge waits until the trial ends.
Both packages include the first 6 mapped importing Plaid bank or card accounts for each enabled company. Mapped importing accounts above that allowance are $1 per account per month. Unmapped or skipped Plaid accounts may remain connected for setup or relinking, but they do not count toward connected-account overage until they are mapped to a LedgerHQ bank/card register and import-enabled.
LedgerHQ + Tally includes Tally bookkeeping work for that company, LedgerHQ's monthly house Anthropic allowance, and optional bring-your-own Anthropic overflow at Anthropic's direct cost with no LedgerHQ AI markup. LedgerHQ Core keeps normal support chat and product help, but Tally does not inspect or work the books for Core companies.
The firm's own workspace can be included in billing unless the firm has enough enabled company workspaces to qualify for the firm-books waiver.
Disabling billing for a company removes it from the bill and makes the company read-only. The data stays in place. This is useful when a firm no longer wants to actively work a company but still needs preserved history.
Trials
A trial lets a firm enter the product and evaluate the workflow before the first charge. If card collection is required, the card is collected at signup and the first charge waits until the trial ends.
Launch-period firms get both LedgerHQ Core and LedgerHQ + Tally for $0 through September 1, 2026. After that date, the selected company packages and any account overages become billable unless the firm has a staff or manual billing exception.
If a trial has been extended by staff, the firm should continue to have access through the extended date as long as the subscription and company billing state remain valid. If a user sees a billing gate during an extended trial, create a support ticket with the firm name and expected trial end date.
Where To Review Billing
Firm billing is available from the account profile Billing tab. That view shows the firm-level subscription state, the next charge context when available, company billing toggles, Core/Tally package state, billing history, and the Stripe portal action for card or subscription management.
Billing history is LedgerHQ-owned. Stripe still handles card management and invoice PDFs, but LedgerHQ stores invoice snapshots with invoice totals, line items, and the per-company/account breakdown at invoice time. Use Billing history when the user needs to understand a prior charge rather than only the current subscription state.
Site admins also have an admin billing surface for trial extensions, Stripe sync, and company billing toggles. Normal users should not need to use the admin panel.
Never send card numbers, Stripe secrets, or bank credentials through Tally or a support ticket. Billing actions should happen through Stripe Checkout, Stripe Portal, or the LedgerHQ admin billing tools.
Tally And Anthropic Usage
If Tally pauses because the included allowance is used or the firm's Anthropic key is not working, review the Tally settings and Connecting your Anthropic API key. LedgerHQ should explain the account/key issue plainly; it should not ask the user to paste the key into chat.
Firms can also connect ChatGPT/Codex or OpenRouter for Tally conversations. See Tally AI providers and models. Provider charges are separate from the LedgerHQ company-package price.
