Manage customer subscriptions and portal access

Link a company's existing Stripe subscriptions to its customers and share private billing portals.

Open Customer Subscriptions

These subscriptions are a company's charges to its own customers. The company Stripe connection supplies them. For the accounting firm's bookkeeping fees, see Manage client engagement billing.

Open the customer record under Customers & Invoices, then select Subscriptions. Company owners can also open Invoices > Customer subscriptions in their portal and use Find a customer and Customer to choose the record. Managing subscriptions requires customer-management access.

  1. If Stripe is not connected, ask an authorized accountant to use Connect company Stripe, complete the connection, then select Refresh connection.
  2. Select Link existing Stripe subscriptions and check the Company Stripe account. Use Link more subscriptions when a subscription is already linked.
  3. Under Find a Stripe customer or subscription, enter a name, email, customer ID, or subscription ID and search.
  4. Check the correct subscriptions and confirm Link [count] subscriptions.

Already-assigned subscriptions cannot be linked to another billing recipient. Linking preserves the current Stripe charges and billing schedule. The customer can then see those subscriptions and their available invoices in Billing.

Read Billing And Update A Card

The subscription shows its status, recurring charges, next billing date, and saved-card summary. Charges are shown before invoice-level taxes, discounts, and credits. Billing history provides View invoice and PDF links when available; use Load more invoices for older results.

Update payment method opens Stripe's secure page for the selected subscription. Enter card details there. Use Open in Stripe for subscription changes that are managed in Stripe, including changes to the plan or cancellation.

Share A Private Portal

Under Customer portal, select Create customer portal link, then Copy portal link. Share it only with the intended customer. Open portal lets you inspect the destination. Check the expiration shown beside the link.

Anyone with this private link can access that customer's portal. Keep it out of public websites, shared documents, and unrelated customer messages.

Use Revoke portal links and confirm Revoke links when that access should end. Existing links and unfinished portal card-update sessions stop working. The Stripe subscriptions continue billing.

Select Unlink on a subscription, review the confirmation, and select Unlink subscription. It disappears from that customer's portal along with its associated invoices. Billing continues in Stripe; cancel the subscription in Stripe if you intend to stop the charge.
