Preview a QuickBooks import before replacing books
Check both CSV files, validation totals, dates, and replacement impact before importing.
The QuickBooks preview validates the exact file pair without writing to the ledger. Use it to prove that the Journal report can map to the Chart of Accounts and that the destination company is safe to import.
Select And Check Both Files
Open the destination company, then go to Settings > Import & Export. In QuickBooks financials, select the original QuickBooks Chart of Accounts CSV and Journal report CSV. Keep the exports unchanged so LedgerHQ can recognize the QuickBooks headers.

Choose Check Files. Nothing is imported at this step.
Read The Preview
A clean preview shows:
- the expected account, transaction, and posting-line counts;
- the correct first and last dates;
- no missing accounts; and
- no unbalanced transactions.
The preview also shows skipped zero-dollar lines and any bank or credit-card registers eligible for optional reconciliation setup.

If an account is missing, re-export both files from the same QuickBooks company. If a transaction is unbalanced, check the Journal report date range and filters. Replacing a large CSV by hand can introduce a second problem, so a clean QuickBooks re-export is usually safer.
Stop At A Replacement Warning
When the destination already has journal activity, the preview shows Replace existing ledger activity in this company. Selecting it does not import anything. It only enables the guarded replacement path.

Choosing Import QuickBooks Financials then opens a second confirmation: Replace existing ledger activity with this QuickBooks financials import? Dismiss that dialog to cancel.
Approve replacement only when the current LedgerHQ ledger is disposable and the preview represents the final source files. Posted bank-feed work and manual journal activity may need to be recreated.
For an empty destination, confirm the counts and dates, then continue with the normal import. For a populated destination, pause until the firm has explicitly decided that replacement is correct.
