Review Gusto payroll history
Connect a company's Gusto account and review payroll runs, employee totals, and saved history.
Connect The Right Company
Select the company whose payroll you want to review, then open Payroll. Choose Connect to Gusto, select the matching company on Gusto's authorization screen, and review the permissions there. Check the connected company name when you return to LedgerHQ.
LedgerHQ uses this connection to read payroll history. Run payroll and manage payroll changes in Gusto. Connecting or refreshing history does not run payroll or post a payroll journal entry in LedgerHQ.
Choose A View
- Last Payroll shows the latest processed payroll, with gross pay, employee taxes, deductions, net pay, employer taxes, and employee detail.
- Payroll History offers By payroll, By month, and By year views. Open a payroll row to review its details.
- Employee Summary shows employee totals for the selected year. Open an employee to see their payrolls for that year.
These views use saved Gusto history for the selected company. Check the company name, pay period, check date, and year before comparing amounts.
Refresh Or Check The Connection
LedgerHQ updates saved history when needed as you open Payroll. Choose Refresh from Gusto to request an update yourself. Re-verify checks the connection.
If an update fails, previously saved payroll can remain visible with a connection or refresh message. That history may not include the latest run. Check the updated time and retry Refresh from Gusto. A completed sync with no payrolls is different from a first sync that has not finished.
Use Disconnect, then Confirm disconnect?, to remove the stored connection. To revoke Gusto-side authorization, use Gusto's settings. Connecting a different Gusto company replaces the previous company's saved history for that LedgerHQ company.
Who Can See Payroll
Company payroll requires payroll-management permission. Payroll for the firm's own books is restricted to the firm owner, including access through Tally and connected assistants. Firm employees do not gain access to the firm's own payroll simply because Gusto is connected.
Use The History For Bookkeeping Review
Payroll history and bank withdrawals describe different parts of payroll. Compare the payroll report with the bank activity before recording the accounting entry. See Payroll from the bank feed for the payroll-clearing and report-review workflow. To have LedgerHQ book each payroll from Gusto's detail, see Book Gusto payroll with Payroll Setup.
