Start a bank reconciliation
Enter the statement period and balances, then begin checking transactions in the account register.
Open The Account
Open Bank Recs and choose the account. Use the action that matches the account state:
- Set up reconciliation — establish a first baseline before starting a session;
- Continue rec — return to an existing in-progress session; or
- Reconcile — open the account's reconciliation workspace.
If the row says Statement needed, use Review statement first. For setup details, see Prepare for your first reconciliation.
Enter The Statement Balances
From the account reconciliation workspace, choose Start reconciliation.
- Enter the Statement end date.
- For the first reconciliation, enter the Statement opening balance and Statement ending balance exactly as shown on the statement.
- For later reconciliations, review the carried-forward Starting balance and enter the new Ending balance.
- Choose Start rec.
For credit-card and loan accounts, enter the positive balance due shown on the statement. LedgerHQ applies the liability register convention. See Enter credit-card and loan balances correctly.
Choose Where Reconciliation Begins
For an account that has never been reconciled, the first-setup wizard records the date and balance where LedgerHQ should begin. Imported transactions on or before that date stay outside the reconciliation list unless you marked them outstanding during setup.

Check Cleared Transactions
The active reconciliation shows the statement date, balances, checked total, and Difference. Check a row only when it appears as cleared on the statement. Transactions that remain unchecked carry forward for later review.
The session can be finished when Difference is $0.00. If a transaction is
missing, check Bank Feeds, Journal Entries, the account register, and any
statement evidence before changing the statement balance.
If the session has the wrong account or period, use the available delete or cancel action and read its confirmation before starting a new one.
