Finish a bank reconciliation

Review the active reconciliation, finish at zero difference, and verify the completed reconciliation record.

Review The Active Session

Open the account from Bank Recs and choose Continue rec for the active session. Review the statement end date, beginning and ending balances, checked total, and every checked row.

Leave a transaction unchecked when it does not appear on the statement. It can carry into a later period. Do not check an item just to remove a difference.

Finish At Zero Difference

LedgerHQ keeps Finish rec unavailable while Difference is not $0.00. Investigate the statement, register, timing differences, duplicate rows, and opening setup before finishing.

When the difference is zero, choose Finish rec. LedgerHQ stores the completed reconciliation with its balances, cleared rows, difference, and finish details. The account returns to the Bank Recs list and the completed session appears under Previous reconciliations.

When A Difference Remains

The active session can offer Book reconciliation discrepancy. This creates a real posted journal entry and should be used only when the firm has decided to accept the difference. For a missing or unexplained amount, use Investigate a reconciliation difference first.

Correct A Completed Session

Open the completed reconciliation and choose Unlock reconciliation. Only the newest completed reconciliation can be unlocked. It returns to an active session with its checked transactions intact so you can make the correction and finish it again at zero difference.

For the complete workflow, return to Bank reconciliation.
