Code one bank transaction

Assign an accounting account to one bank row without posting it.

Code one bank transaction to prepare its accounting treatment while keeping it unposted for review.

Choose The Account

  1. Open Fast Coding, then open the company.
  2. Find the row and read its full description, payee, date, amount, and bank account. Expand the description when the shortened text is not enough.

Uncoded bank transaction with the Choose account control

  1. Open Choose account and select the account that describes the transaction. Do not choose an account only because its name looks similar.
  2. Confirm that the selected account appears in Coded to and that the row shows coded.

The same bank transaction coded to Software Subscriptions but not posted

The row is now coded but not posted. The Post action remains available because posting is a separate accounting step.

Before You Post

Review any warning badge. A possible duplicate, transfer, card payment, or removed provider row may need a different workflow. Transfer pairs use their pair action instead of normal expense or income posting.

Fast Coding’s row editor currently assigns the accounting account. If you need additional company Bank Feeds context, choose Bank feeds in the drawer header and review the same row there.

If you chose the wrong account, select the correct account while the row is still unposted. Then use Post one coded transaction when you are ready to create the ledger entry. See Understand your posting options before using a batch action.
