Connect a bank or credit card
Start Plaid Link, select accounts, map every return, and verify the first healthy feed activity.
Start The Connection
Open the company and choose Bank Feeds > Connect bank. If the company already has a healthy feed, the same button adds another institution.

Before Plaid opens, choose All of 2026, Last 3 months, Last month, or Choose a start date. The choice applies to every bank or card account selected under that bank login. No range is preselected. Getting older transactions later may require reconnecting the bank.
Continue without entering credentials anywhere in LedgerHQ, choose the institution, authenticate in Plaid's secure flow, and select every bank or card account the firm needs.

LedgerHQ never receives the bank password. Plaid handles institution authentication and returns the accounts the owner approved.
Map Every Returned Account
After Plaid returns to LedgerHQ, Map connected accounts opens. For each account, choose an existing LedgerHQ register, Create new register, or Disconnect this account. A connected account left unmapped still needs a decision and does not publish activity.

Choose Save changes after every account has the intended destination. Use Later only when the firm intentionally wants the accounts connected but not yet publishing. Choosing disconnect asks for confirmation and removes that bank connection from LedgerHQ.
Verify The Healthy Result
Back in Bank Feeds, confirm:
- the account card has the expected institution, type, and masked digits;
- Last updated shows a recent successful sync;
- no reconnect or mapping warning is present; and
- new activity appears in the correct register card.
Balances can differ while transactions are pending, unposted, or not yet reconciled. The connection is healthy when syncing and mapping are healthy—not when bank and register balances happen to match.
If Plaid closes before returning, start Connect bank again. If an institution requires attention, use Reconnect or ask the company owner through the supported connection-text flow. Never put bank credentials, one-time codes, or full account numbers in a support ticket.
