Connecting your Anthropic API key

Add your own Anthropic key so Tally can keep working after the included monthly allowance.

LedgerHQ + Tally includes a monthly Tally AI allowance for each Tally-enabled company. When a company uses that allowance, Tally can keep working with your firm's own Anthropic API key. Anthropic bills that usage directly. LedgerHQ does not add a markup.

Anthropic is one available provider. A firm can also connect ChatGPT/Codex or OpenRouter and choose its conversation routing. See Tally AI providers and models for the full provider setup.

Create The Key

  1. Go to console.anthropic.com.
  2. Sign in or create an Anthropic account.
  3. Open Billing and add credit. A small starting balance, such as $5 to $10, is enough for most firms to begin.
  4. Open API Keys.
  5. Create a key and copy it.

Save It In LedgerHQ

  1. Open Tally.
  2. Open the account profile dialog.
  3. Select the Automation tab.
  4. Find Tally Anthropic key.
  5. Paste the Anthropic key.
  6. Select Save key.

LedgerHQ checks the key with Anthropic before saving it. After it is saved, the screen shows only the last four characters. The full key is encrypted and is never shown again.

Do not paste the key into Tally chat or a support ticket.

What It Costs

LedgerHQ + Tally companies include a monthly LedgerHQ allowance. A typical company is expected to use about $3 per month of AI work, but heavy cleanup months can use more. Once the included allowance is used, Anthropic bills your firm directly for the extra work.

LedgerHQ does not mark up that Anthropic usage. If the Anthropic key stops working, is revoked, lacks billing credit, or the Anthropic account runs out of credit, Tally pauses new work and tells you what to fix.
